Therapy Approach
We all experience pain in life; it’s a part of the human experience. Pain can leave wounds and leave us feeling fragmented. I am passionate about working with clients from all backgrounds to help people integrate these fragmented parts into a more whole self and build on their own strengths and resilience.
My work often focuses on helping adult individuals heal from traumas in their past or present, assisting people in sharing their thoughts and feelings, and helping clients connect to their bodies through self-compassion and kindness. I thoroughly enjoy learning about the brain, our nervous system, and how therapy can help rewire the brain. This gives me hope and is the driving force behind what I do.
Therapy begins by first creating a safe and welcoming space. I listen and validate my clients in order to build trust. I then work with my clients to identify the pain areas or areas where they want to see change in their life. Through body awareness and paying attention to my client’s nervous system, I work with my clients on self-regulating and building more helpful coping techniques. Many times this work involves helping my clients see the younger parts of themselves as important characters in their healing process. I encourage my clients to think about how to care for themselves.
I desire for my clients to feel listened to and heard. I want my clients to build up their own tolerance to vulnerability because I strongly believe this leads to change and self-acceptance. I want my clients to see the hard work of showing up in therapy as the foundation for their healing.
If you find yourself curious about seeking therapy and want an affirming, calming therapist, then please reach out for more information. I welcome all people from all backgrounds and intersectionalities. Whether you have been in therapy before or this is a new venture, I will serve as a guide in your personal exploration. Together we can examine where you are and where you want to go. In therapeutic terms, we can only take people as far as we have journeyed ourselves. That is why I am dedicated to the on-going work in my own life to understand my story, culture, and identity in order to guide others in their path towards an integrated self.
Experience
I received my masters degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in 2012. I worked at a community mental health non-profit in Seattle before opening my private practice in 2016. I work with adults individuals via Telehealth appointments only at this time (no in-person appointments available).
